TimeIsNews.com - At least 40 countries around the world have learned Indonesian as a foreign language in the education sector, from basic education to universities.

“Indonesian increasingly in demand by the world community, as evidenced to date approximately 40 countries have been studying Indonesian as a foreign language,” said one professor of the Faculty of Letters University of Hasanuddin (Hasanuddin University) - Unhas, Dr. Rahman Aspar in Makassar, Indonesia.

He says, as proof of foreign interest in learning Indonesian, in October 2004 has held an international conference for the teaching of Indonesian foreign speakers conducted in Unhas (University of Hasanuddin).

According to Aspar Rahman, with a growing number are studying the Indonesian language, it demonstrates that the language of the Youth Oath was born they have the potential to align with other languages as foreign languages in the world.

“Through the Indonesian Language, the world community can know better about the culture and the people of Indonesia,” he said.

In connection with this, Aspar said Rahman, no wonder it’s been a lot of institutions Indonesian language that is developed, both inside and outside the country.

“By teaching Indonesian to foreigners, so can connect cross-cultural understanding through the teaching that was developed abroad,” he said.

While the country’s most intensely developed Indonesian as a foreign language in schools, among them are Japan,
Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.
